Here's what each song is about...

Every year has four seasons: summer, fall, winter, and spring. Many relationships go through four seasons that mirror those changes. I surely have been through each of them … more than once.

SUMMER:  Summer is fun! It’s a time of adventure and new experiences. It is the excitement of meeting someone new. There is energy, the pursuit of their attention, the teasing, the come-on, the cheesy pick-up line. There is the emotional rush of a new partner. “I’m the Guy” is an up-tempo chase of a woman’s love and affection. It’s all about trying to convince her that “I’m the Guy” she should pay attention to.

FALL:  Fall is a time of celebration. There are many holidays and family gatherings. It’s a time of love. When the connection from summer has grown into something special, there is happiness and joy. You say, “I love you!” often. It’s the season where you draw in close to those you love. As the year comes to a close, you reflect on how blessed you are to have them in your life. You may be elated and surprised by the love that exists between you. “Hard to Believe” is not about the skeptical perception of things that are difficult to accept. Quite the opposite and more importantly, it is about how fantastic, real, deep love and affection can overwhelm you. When someone loves you in a way that you have never experienced, it’s “hard to believe”.

WINTER:  Winter is bleak. Winter can be cold and sad. Some relationships—no matter how strong—hit a winter season where everything falls apart. Some couples work it out and recover. Some don’t. However it goes, there is always heartache, pain, and unanswered questions. There is guilt, there is anger, and there is a black hole feeling of emptiness. “Fight For Us” is a plea to that pain and those questions. It’s probably the most emotional song I’ve ever written.

SPRING:  Spring is a time of rebirth, renewal, and healing. It is a time when moving forward is imperative but incredibly difficult. For anyone whose relationship “died” in winter, it is a time of regrouping, controlling our emotions, and trying to figure out just what we want in our future. “Brand New Day” is about picking up the pieces of your broken heart and finding the strength and courage to look for love again. It is hopeful. It is also bittersweet because you understand that you have to leave behind a person and a relationship that was incredibly important to you. Motion is mandatory.  Keep moving forward. The sun is up, so embrace this “brand new day”. You cannot stay where you were. Life is about change.

Make it a change that is good for your life.
